Dale Carnegie

Eight years ago I had a teacher recommend everyone read Dale Carnegie’s book “How to Win Friends and Influence People”, presumably because it was just that interesting of a book.  As much as George Wenger applied every aspect of the principles within that book, I think he recommended it because it was just a fun book to read. Earlier this year I spotted it on an abandoned bookshelf in a building that had been condemned, and took it-nobody was looking.

Fast forward three weeks to myself sitting in a coffee shop listening (eavesdropping) to a girl complain about what she’s not looking for in a mate.  I started to pull out a business card, but decided against it because something occurred to me: she’s spending more time telling her friend what she doesn’t want, versus what she does want.

Think about that for a while, I’m going to smoke a cigarette.
